Yokosuka Port is located at the entrance to Tokyo Bay offering the fastest port access in and out of the metropolitan area.
Yokosuka is also known as the site from which Commodore Perry first arrived in Japan in 1853 in hopes of opening the country to the world. Perry’s landing brought an end to almost 300 years of national isolation and set forth the modernization of Japan.
Today, Yokosuka is a thriving international and industrial port city with many exciting places to visit and sightsee. Research vessels, cargo ships, and luxury liners come into port, as well as aircraft carriers and other sea vessels of the United States Seventh Fleet and the Japan Maritime Self Defense Force.
We are just 50km from Tokyo, 30km from Yokohama, 10km from Kamakura, and easily accessible by train at 1 hour, 30 minutes, and 20 minutes respectfully.
Yokosuka eagerly awaits your arrival. We look forward to the opportunity to welcome you to our city!! |

In Kurihama is a memorial hall commemorating the arrival of Commodore Perry whose landing in Japan with a letter from the President of the United States brought an end to the nation’s isolationist policies. At Kurihama Flower World, visitors can enjoy blooming fields of 1,000,000 poppies in spring and cosmos blossoms in the fall, other park attractions include a Bell of Love and a Godzilla shaped slide for children. In 2006, Yokosuka proudly opened Soleil no Oka, built to evoke images of the Provence region of Southern France.
