Profile of the Port of MAIZURU ... Honshu(The Inland Sea)

  This is the gateway port to the Kansai area on the Sea of Japan. It is ninety minutes to Kyoto, the most attractive city for foreign visitors in Japan (and about the same distance from Kobe and Osaka). Maizuru is located 525 miles far from Nahotoka and 384 miles far from Pusan, and is attractive as the northern gateway port for Kyoto sightseeing for cruises in the Sea of Japan. There are many hot springs and scenic beauties such as Amanohashidate, one of the most beautiful scenic spots in Japan, and Goroudake, the first of "Kinki-Hyakkei ", a hundred scenic spots of Kinki (Kansai) around Maizuru. The best season to arrive in Maizuru Port is from March through November.

City Place and Event Notes
Maizuru city Maizuru Harbor Fresh Fish Center Crabs and various fresh fishes are sold, and you can enjoy having sushi in the center.

Goro Sky Tower It offers a view of Maizuru Harbor that ranks as the No.1 vista of the most celebrated scenes of Kinki(Kansai) area.

The World Brick Museum It displays bricks from some of the world’s most famous brick buildings and structures, and includes bricks from four of the world’s civilizations. Moreover every year, surrounding red brick warehouses serve as the venues for events such as the Red Brick Festa and Summer Jazz concerts.

Chatta Festival Local dances, flea markets and fireworks are held in late July.
Miyazu city Amanohashidate Amanohashidate is located in Miyazu city on the Tango Peninsula. It is a sand-bar, 2.3 miles in length and about 566 feet in the maximum width, and is covered with some 8,000 pine-trees. It is said to look like “ The Green Bridge to Heaven.” It is famous as one of the three most beautiful spots in Japan.
Hot springs There are a lot of hot springs around the city. Many Ryokans(Japanese inns) and hotels entertain you with hot springs and delicious Japanese cuisines.
Toka Ebisu at Monjudo The festival is held on January 10th at Monjudo(Chionji Temple). It has been held from ancient times, wishing for prosperity and academic accomplishment. Many street stalls sell typical Japanese foods such as Takoyaki, Taiyaki, Apple candy and so forth.
Miyazu Toro Nagashi(Lanterns Display) and Fireworks It is held on August 16th every year. Thousands of fireworks and lanterns adorn the night fantastically.

Maizuru city Maizuru is a hub city of the northern Kansai area. Its’s extensive coastline and beautiful green mountains has been designated part of Wakasa Bay Quasi-National Park. The World Brick Museum displays bricks from some of the world’s most famous brick buildings and structures.
